Hanover Master Gardener Tree Steward volunteer projects 2024-25 include:
- Help Desk follow up research to troubleshoot tree-related problems, e.g. diseases, through the Master Gardener Microscopy lab
- Site visitations in local tree/shrub conservation effort
- Identify native trees and provide descriptions for Hanover County Parks and Recreation signage along Lake Hanover Trail
- Provide educational activities through the Horticulture Learning Center (HLC) e.g. planting native trees at the Arbor Day Celebration on April 26, 2024, and tree care best practices at the Garden Showcase on September 24, 2024
- Develop a Tree Inventory and Tree Walk of native trees at the Hanover County Taylor Park office complex
- Schedule fall planting of 5 additional native trees at Taylor Park Complex & create signage with tree descriptions using QR codes for tree walk
- Provide presentations to local groups and homeowners associations about tree selection, sitings, and care.
