Willow Oak

Quercus phellos

Mature Size:  60 to 80 feet in height, 2 to 3 feet in diameter

The Willow Oak is named for its narrow, willow-like leaves. It grows quickly and is found in bottomlands.  The tree’s narrow leaves turn yellow in the fall.  It produces an abundant number of acorns.  According to the National Wildlife Association this tree supports 289 catterpillar species that use this host plant.
