Beautyberry

Callicarpa americana

Mature Size:  3 to 8 feet in height, 3 to 6 feet in width

The American Beautyberry is a deciduous shrub native to the southeastern United States. It produces vivid purple berry clusters along the stems in late summer and fall.  Birds and mammals feed on the berries during colder months.

Fun Facts:
• Leaves were traditionally used as insect repellent
• Berries can be cooked into jellies
